3. Version Restrictions
The Mini Program Supreme Edition can enable the knowledge payment feature. (Note: Baidu Mini Program does not support the knowledge payment feature.)
4. How Can Businesses Use the Pay-for-Knowledge Feature?
4.1. Enable “Sell Separately”
In the Add/Edit Article popup, you can turn on the “Sell Separately” function under “Knowledge Payment.”
In the Add/Edit Audio popup, you can access “Knowledge Payment” to enable the “Sell Separately” function.
4.2. Set the “Payment Mode”
Both “Free” and “Paid” modes are supported.
Free: Visitors can subscribe to this content at no cost.
Paid: Visitors must pay a fee to access the full content.
Note: After setting the “Paid” mode, you need to go to “Management Mini Program – Services – Settings – Payment Settings” to enable and configure WeChat Pay, allowing visitors to make payments within the mini program.
4.3. Set “Virtual Subscriptions” and “Trial/Listen to Content”
You can choose to display or hide subscriptions. Displayed subscriptions = actual subscriptions + virtual subscriptions.
Audio trial can be set: directly specify a percentage.
Article trial can be set: requires manually adding content.
Note: Before visitors subscribe to the content, they need browsing permissions on the page to try and listen to the content.
How to set browsing permissions for articles and audio? The following uses articles as an example; audio settings are the same.
For global article browsing permissions, go to “Management Mini Program – Content – Articles – Advanced Settings,” and the setting will apply to all articles. Options include “Visible to all” or “Visible to designated member levels.”
To set browsing permissions for a specific article independently, use the “Add/Edit Article popup.” Default: Follow global browsing permissions.
4.4. Manage Orders
Once visitors subscribe to content, an order is generated. Businesses can view these in “Management Mini Program – Content – Manage Orders.”
Orders can be filtered, exported, and deleted. After deletion, the corresponding visitor’s subscription records are also removed.
5. How Do Visitors Use the Pay-for-Knowledge Feature?
5.1. Try and Listen
Before subscribing, visitors can try and listen to content if they have browsing permissions on the page.
5.2. Purchase Content
When the payment mode is “Paid,” visitors can enjoy the complete article and audio content after paying. (Note: If visitors have member consumption rights, they can enjoy member discount prices when purchasing content.)
If the payment mode is “Free,” visitors can subscribe to the content at no cost.
5.3. View Content
After successful subscription, visitors can view subscribed content under “My – My Subscriptions.” (Note: If the admin deletes content in the backend, visitors will no longer be able to view the subscribed content.)
6. Special Instructions
Knowledge payment is a virtual payment, and the iOS side of WeChat Mini Program does not support virtual payments. (Note: The following instructions apply only to iOS; Android works normally.)
For iOS virtual payments, there are three options:
① Disable the channel: Close the payment channel on iOS. Prices are not displayed on iOS, and the bottom button is not clickable.
② Switch to free: Make all paid knowledge content free on iOS, allowing iOS users to subscribe to content at no cost.
